Office Lighting
Choosing the correct office lighting is absolutely crucial in establishing a pleasant, healthy and efficient working environment for staff and visitors alike. Having a consistent design of contemporary lighting throughout your building creates a professional atmosphere and is as important as the office furniture and decorations within it.
As part of our design service we produce ‘Lux Level’ lighting plans, which detail the brightness of lighting throughout an office. We will experiment with different lighting products and positions using this technique to ensure that your working environment is evenly lit at just the right brightness.
Categories Of Lighting
Direct lighting typically comes from lights mounted overhead in the ceiling or from desk lights. The main benefit is its efficiency, however it can also cause glare, shadows and unwanted reflections.
Indirect lighting washes up and reflects off the ceiling or wall before reaching the work plane. In effect, the ceiling becomes the light source and therefore brightest surface in the space. This type of lighting makes a space feel bright and most people consider it to be more comfortable than direct lighting because it rarely causes shadows. However, it can tend to feel dull.
Direct/Indirect lighting combines both downward and upward light distribution. As with indirect lighting, the lighted ceiling brightens the space, but the direct downward light enhances the work surface and creates visual interest. Studies have shown that people prefer this combination due to its brightness and comfort and it is our preferred product for fit-outs and refurbishments.
