Health and Safety and the Environment

Environmental Policy

We are thoroughly committed to changing and constantly improving every facet of our company in order to create a sustainable business model.

We are a UK based company supplying UK based customers.  Wherever possible we endeavour to source raw materials and components within the UK and EU in order to meet with British and European Standards, as well as reducing our carbon footprint.

We have an environmental sustainability accreditation from The Essex Resource Efficiency Club and are registered under The Environment Agency’s Control of Pollution Act. Our work with these agencies ensures that we remain an ethical and sustainable company and care for the environment around us. Details of our in- house environmental initiatives can be found below.

In House Environmental Schemes

Waste is split into 4 main recycled areas at Southwark & Boon – Paper and Cardboard, Plasterboard, Metals and General Waste. Also as a member of The Essex Resource Efficiency Club and Eastex Materials Exchange, our staff are aware that any items that can be exchanged with other club members should be identified and brought to the management’s attention for immediate action.

Heard Environmental operates waste disposal on behalf of Southwark & Boon.  Waste is transferred to Heard’s site, separated and distributed to the following sites for further recycling:

We are constantly reviewing our waste policy and ensure that our staff are both well informed and actively involved in operating an efficient waste system at the company.  They are also encouraged to make suggestions and observations, which may help the company initiate new systems or streamline existing practices.  We also regularly monitor suppliers' environmental policies and from time to time make suggestions to them on items such as packaging, which may result in improved operations.

Environmental Credentials Of Our Projects

Whenever we undertake a refurbishment or fit-out project, environmental sustainability is always at the forefront of our mind. Not only will we recycle all waste from on-site and ensure that our practices are environmentally friendly, we also ensure that all of the products we source are responsibly produced by ethical suppliers.

Health and Safety

Health and Safety is a priority, all of our employees are fully trained in Health and Safety by the Essex Chamber of Commerce and PASMA. This means that you can be safe in the knowledge that they know how to handle equipment correctly and how to ensure that neither they nor any of your employees are at risk during a refurbishment or fit-out project. Thorough Health and Safety training by the Essex Chamber of Commerce and PASMA ensure that any job we do will be performed according to the most up-to-date Health and Safety regulations.

We use our own fit-out teams, as well as subcontracters and can guarantee that all Health and Safety regulations will be met when undertaking projects. We also find that this gives us an impeccable record in quality and timing of delivery of our projects.  We guarantee that your staff and office space will be cared for in the best possible way during the duration of a project with the minimum possible disruption.
